A tummy is such a fickle thing. You make it mad, it will pay you back in ways undescribable. It’s scary, really.

I’m obviously no newbie to the “Delhi belly”…you can’t even visit India without getting the “screamming mimis”. But’s it’s been many, many years since I’ve dealt with it to the extent that I am now.  It’s been a nuisance for about a month but the past 2 days have just been down right mean.  Thanks to Pepto Bismol and some serious Indian ‘giardia’ medicine, I should be a new woman soon. [crossing fingers and toes]

Unfortunately, this means I’m missing the big bash tonight with friends.  J and the boys are going, but I guess it’s just me and Dick Clark tonight. {If he’s still alive…can’t remember.}

So here’s to your good health (and mine)…from my pink cup to your bubblies!

Yesterday was a perfect day. Yet a bit Twilight-Zoney too.

On  November 21st, 2009:

~I mowed the yard.
~The boys ran around the neighborhood in t-shirts and barefeet.
~The bees were being chanced by the dogs.
~Birds were pooping berry-stained poop…everywhere.

It was a perfect Summer/Fall day. The only thing that didn’t fit the picture was the lack of lush, green leaves on the trees and flowers around the house.

Oh and the Christmas boxes opened in the garage and the Christmas parade we went to later in the evening.

This is not typical for Missouri. Don’t get me wrong…we have  a history of needing coat/scarf/gloves in the morning and flip-flops by afternoon, but yesterday…that was not typical.

And I loved every minute of it.

Yesterday someone twittered, “Why is it so hard to remember to be thankful during this time of year?!”

I’ll tell you why…because even though Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday of November, it always sneaks up on us!  How does that do that?! How can you be thankful when you’re running around like a turkey with it’s head cut off trying to get everything done in time?

I swear that I was planning in October…but I lost my notes.  Then we all caught the flu from Hades or some other pig farm location.

The only saving grace is that we’re not going anywhere. I can’t imagine having to plan a trip right now.  How are you guys doing it??

I’ve been seeing a lot of lists on how to relax and enjoy Thanksgiving. They all say pretty basic things…but maybe we just need that kind of reminder.

Breathe…it clears the head a bit.

Look around you…your kids are doing something that will make you laugh. And laughter is the best medicine.

Give some hugs…there’s something releasing about opening your arms and heart to another.

Pray…find the peace of the season with a quiet moment with God.

I hope these ideas give you just a moment of peace to relax in the moment.  Maybe you might even find a second to be thankful.
