Memorial Day 2010

We Can Do It poster for Westinghouse, closely ...

This past year I have had the honor of getting to know a lot of military wives. I have learned so much, but the most important thing was that they are some seriously strong women and I’m a big weenie.  These women sacrifice their husbands so that we can be free day after day. They move, feed and teach their children completely by themselves.

As our country supports our troops, I thank them too…but more importantly I thank the spouses and other family members that are left behind.  Because you give of yourself and your spouse, this weekend I was able to:

  • Take the boys to 2 different beaches
  • Have a great cookout
  • Entertain family and be entertained by family
  • Go to church
  • Buy supplies for projects we’re working on at home
  • Buy groceries

I no longer want to take things for granted.  From a sappy woman in Missouri…THANK YOU!!

Be sure to come by tomorrow for a super cute giveaway. It will start tomorrow and will only go through to Friday, so get back here early!  You’re gonna love it!!

Ditto! I live in a town where many Navy families reside and I am always impressed at the inner strength of these women.

People forget that husbands & wives that are left at home raising children while their spouse is serving overseas in the military are equivalent to being single parents. Thanks for this post!! ANNNDDDD to our military servers & their spouses, fathers, mothers, children, siblings, etc.

  5. As a military spouse, I thought this post was super sweet!! Thank you!

Army life is tough at times, but you definitely feel gratitude for the “small” things you get to do with your whole family.
