WFMW – Railroad Chai

In honor of my friend, JohnJay who is visiting India for the first time.

The best Indian chai is always at the railroad stations. My favorite was this rickety cart that was manned by an old guy with only 1 tooth at the Kodai Road Station.

Indian RR Tea (chai)

Bring to a boil:
2c. water
3–4 whole cloves
3–4 cardamom (squashed)
1 stick cinnamon

After it boils, take it off the stove and add 4 teabags of black tea. Let steep (10 minutes min.) Then add 2 c. milk and heat. Do Not Boil!

Strain and add 3 T. sugar. Stir and enjoy!

I love making chai at home! Husband and I drink it often while sitting around before bedtime watching movies. I really like the flavor that adding ginger and honey gives. Yum!

Ooh! I must make this! I love chai, but always default to liquid mixes like Tazo. Thanks for sharing!

All I can say is, “Yum!” That sounds really good.
