What I learned This Week
1. Turning 38 wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I feel good. I look good (holla!). And I’m surrounded by people who love my smile lines, gray hair and stoopy old back!
2. God has a way of giving you that boost of energy just when you think you can’t go on.
3. Yes, I will have to tell my kids every single morning what needs to be done to get ready for school even though they’ve done it 5 out of 7 mornings for years. I label it under Bonding Time…again.
4. If you throw the kids’ backpack out on the front lawn like you said you would if you found it on the floor of the living room one more time…they start to remember to put it up.
5. Wisdom does come with age!
This is part of a weekly carnival from Musings of a Housewife.

Ha your #4 reminds me of my dad. When I was 15 he threatened to throw EVERYTHING in my room on the front lawn if i didn’t pick up. Well silly me I thought he was bluffing. Got home from school the next day and EVERYTHING and i do mean everything from the clothes to the hangers and sheets from the bed and all stuff inbetween was on the front yard.
I can assure you i kept the room picked up from then on.
And congrats on your birthday!!
Wow! Your dad was serious,eh? Sounds like it worked though…*hoping I won’t have to throw out a bed anytime soon!*
38 is not bad at all — especially when viewed from 42!
I might need to give No.4 a try!
Yes, #4 sounds like a great incentive! Although, my daughter is only 6 — I might have to wait a couple of years for that to pay off.
I hear ya…I’m working on the steady reminder tactic with my 6yo. Hoping he’ll be better at it by the time he gets older.
This is my first visit to your blog! I love your blog design. and I love the whole backpack on the front lawn thing. YOU GO GIRL! :]
Thanks, Julie! Of course I sound burlier than I really am. I’m a stinkin’ pushover.
