Father’s Day 09

in Are we having fun yet?

Father’s day this year was a bit more crazier than I would have liked it to be.  Gremlin turns 6 on Thursday so I went ahead and combined the family party with the Father’s Day cook out.  It turned out great, but couldn’t seem to get Gremlin to SHARE his day with the Father’s in the house.

We grilled steak and brats with grilled veggies.  And I’m telling you what!  I found an incredible recipe for a Creamy Chive Sauce that I would’ve named CHEESY Chive Dip. It was for the grilled sweet potatoes, but I used it on my steak and it was YUM!

(*courtesy of Midwest Living, July/Aug 09)
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 c. mayo
2T snipped fresh chives
1t steak seasoning
3T finely shredded Asiago cheese
2T grated Parmesan cheese (I cheated and used powdered Parm cheese)
or
1T crumbled blue cheese (I used both Parm and blue!!!)

Mix and dip.

It was awesome!

The thing I’m most proud of was the gift from the frantic mother boys.  J is SO hard to buy for.  He doesn’t ever want anything.  Last week I was on Twitter and noticed a tweet that mentioned Beki’s Father’s Day gift that she does every year.  I checked it out and LOVED it!

FathersDay

I’m bummed that the picture machine made Oldman’s photo too dark…will have to redo that one, but I thought it turned out great.

(*Don’t tell J, but I’m pretty sure I saw a tear trying to leak out…)
